The iPod shuffle gods served up "Scarred" by Uncle Luke this morning, thus the title of this track...
If German police swat teams are practicing subduing rioting Polish soccer fans, and 40,000 - 100,000 prostitutes from around Europe and the World are flocking to Germany (some of their own volition) to join the 400,000 legal ones who already work there, then the World Cup must be just around the corner (given 20th century historical occurances, probably not the best PR move on Germany's part to wrestle Poles to the ground in swat gear, by the way).
25 days around the corner to be exact.
Re-enacting 1939 might not be the
best way to squash tension before the
Germany-Poland match on June 14th.
This week I am focused on the Champions League Final on Wednesday and The Preakness on Saturday, but after that I will probably throw up some group previews/random pre-tourney thoughts. In the meantime LD is previewing each of the 32 teams, both soccer-wise and the "what you should know about this country" angle as well. Good stuff. There's always the MSM (mainstream media) previews available at Soccernet and Fox Soccer Channel, as well as the Official Site of WC06. As far as fan wackiness, be it soccer or anything else, your jumping off point should always be Rammer Jammer Yellow Hammer.

Something about "German tactics" and "Polish infiltrators" always makes me feel uneasy.
