Casey Martin Named Oregon Golf Coach

Remember Casey Martin? Played golf at Stanford with Tiger & Notah Begay III, then played the Hogan Nike Buy.com Nationwide Tour, earning promotion to the PGA Tour in 2000. He had a rare health condition that caused his leg to literally deteriorate. He asked the PGA Tour to use a cart. They said no. He sued them under the Americans With Disabilities Act. He won. The Tour appealed all the way to the Supreme Court, where he won again. But by then the quality of his golf had waned to where he wasn't on tour anymore, and he slipped into obscurity.

Good golfer, good guy.

Well, he has just been named as the new head coach for Men's Golf at University Of Oregon. Good for him. His life is a Sunday night CBS movie waiting to happen, and he always seemed to speak with humilty and class. I am happy to have found out what happened to him, happy for him, and wish him well in his new endeavor.
