Spain Invades Scotland

The UEFA Cup Final is today in Glasgow, and features a matchup of two Spanish teams, Sevilla and Espanyol.

The easiest way to explain the UEFA Cup is that it is the NIT tournament to the Champions League's NCAA Tournament. It's a little more complicated that that, but that is the closest thing I can think of.

Sevilla won the UEFA Cup last year and are attempting to become only the 2nd team to ever successfully defend their title {Real Madrid, '85-'86 I think}. Espanyol are the "other" team in Barcelona and rarely compete for trophies. They are attempting to help erase the memory of their last UEFA Cup final 19 years ago, when it was played over two legs and they managed to blow a 3-0 lead.

Anyhow, thanks to Bobbeh here are links to excellent match previews focusing on each team: Sevilla and Espanyol.

And like the NIT tournament, I don't really pay much attention to it other than watching highlights, until the semifinals and final. But the match should be very compelling today so I'm going over to the pub to check it out. My prediction is Sevilla winning either 2-1 or 3-1.
