Like Tiger? Hate Tiger? Either way, I think people sometimes get put off at the insane attention on one player over all others. If it is merited any week of the year, it is this one, for his record & results in this tournament are straight-up insane. To wit:
TWoods as a professional in the Masters
Starts:9
Wins: 4
Avg. Finish: 8th
The full breakdown:
2005: 1st
2004: T22
2003: T15
2002: 1st
2001: 1st
2000: 5th
1999: T18th
1998: T8
1997: 1st
Dude is batting .444 in this event. Against the entire field. So history says that if you are going to back him against the field, any odds longer that 9/4 are in your favor and therefore a good bet.
3/1 against the field? Yes please...
In a side bet with a buddy of mine, I have him against the field this week at 3/1, and I like the side of the bet that I'm on.
I have some really interesting reasearch about TW in the 4 majors, and how he fares based on par being 70, 71, or 72. I'll dig it up and post it before the week is out.
