Phil wins 2nd Green Jacket, 3rd Major; SD misses last 3 holes

Sunday, 4.24 p.m. PST

Congrats are in order for Phil/Lefty/Ol' Manboobs himself. Played the best overall, and the only contender who didn't make a mistake all day.

It's a shame that our good friend & supreme Philly Fanatic SD missed the last 3 holes. After his usual heavy drinkng of the LeftyAde all week, he really stepped it up today and started doing shots of it at 7 a.m. EST to coax Philly through the completion of the 3rd round. When Phil birdied 15 in the final round to take a 4 shot lead just after all the challengers had fallen by the wayside, SD's mortal body finally succomed to the insane level of BLC (Blood LeftyAde Content) running through it, and passed out cold.

SD as of about 6.30 p.m. EST, dreaming of the "Lefty Slam"

More later...

SD, was I the only guy in America that noticed Tiger stare at Phil like Lloyd stared at Mrs. Swanson at the end of Dumb & Dumber? Tiger gave hime the "DIE A-HOLE! as I plunge this knife in your back" look. Phil played as controlled as I have ever seen. It was a mature round of golf. Play for pars and make birdie when you can. I've watched Tiger and Faldo do this for years and I've come to enjoy the marathon runner stile of golf rather than the sprint/walk/sprint style of golf Phil has played over the years. I just watched his presser on Masters.org and he has reallized the "Score with your brilliant short game and not try to get yourself out of trouble with your short game" concept. Play to your steangths, not force yourself to get over your weaknesses. As a side note, I wonder if the press (aka Jim Rome) will get all over Tiger, Ernie and the Boys for not making their "move". Phil got blasted by every media outlet for years for not blasting ahead after being 3 or 4 shots down on Sunday. It is too damn hard to press your luck without making double or triple on good golf courses against good fields.

B-

Good point about the media, but I think there is a difference. When the media "got all over" Phil, he had won many tournaments and showed that he had all the talent in the world, but he had consistently failed to shine on golf's biggest stage and win a major. While the others certainly all failed to challenge Phil yesterday, you won't see the media "get all over" them in the same way because they have all already shown the world that they can win majorsL Tiger has 10, Ernie 3, Vijay 3, and Retief 2.

By winninng his 1st 2 years ago, and now having won 3, Phil has joined this list and won't ever have to deal with that again.

Sergio looks to be next in line for such treatment. Probably the current "Best PLayer To Never Win A Major", and has a habit of faltering on the weekend or final day.

SD- Congrats. It actually feels nice to not take your money for once.

OMAA-

I'm glad you didn't have to spit blood, because I know that you spit your fair share after getting your ass handed to you last Saturday by UCLA. Now get back out there and tell those recruits why they should come play basketball on Tiger Lane...
