S. Truett Cathy: Cock Tease

That's cock, as in Gamecock, as in chicken (dirty, dirty - now go wash your mind out with soap).

Yesterday, for the 2nd Sunday in a row, I had to drive past Chick-Fil-A not once but twice on my trip up to Sacramento.

One could easily prove Pavlov's theories with Kanu and one of these

"What's the big deal?" you say.

There is ONE Chick-Fil-A within 400 miles of San Francisco - it just so happens that it is in Fairfield, which is 1/2 way between SF & Sacramento. Finding it was a true revelation. As we all know, Chick-Fil-A is for Southerners what crack is for Tyrone Biggums: incredibly good and addictive as hell. In ATL my habit was pretty out of control - I probably ate it for lunch 4 out of 5 days of the work week. In fact, I think the CFA on PIB in Norcross, GA is erecting a bronze statue of me out front with all the money I spent in there in the last 4 years. Add to this my insane addiction to sweet tea, and there was reason to fear for my health when I moved to California last year.

Replace 'Tyrone' with 'Kanu' and that PBJ with
a Chick-Fil-A sandwich, and you pretty much have the idea

Learning upon my first visit that they have the only "real deal" sweet tea in Northern California was even better, especially when you consider that on a day-to-day basis I have been reduced to the sugar-packet-in-the-regular-tea routine, which you all know is hopelessly inferior. It is too far from the city to go just to go - about an hour to 2 hours depending on traffic. So obviously I stop there religously each and every time that I go up to Sac or Tahoe, whether I am hungry or not. This typically happens one, maybe twice, a month.

Except that Chick-Fil-As are closed on Sundays. I can respect that, but you can imagine what a tease it is to drive past it a total of 4 times in 8 days only to know that it is closed.

I love ya Truett, and there is no bigger devotee to your restaurant than I. I also resepct that you stick to what you believe in even though it costs you a fair chunk of change. But yesterday, damnit, I wished you were a bit more... secular.

Why must you torment me so?

*Update: Holy sweet shit! There are now TWO Chick-Fil-As within 400 miles of SF. Hopefully the CFA Empire will continue to expand into the wild, wacky, West...
